        Comment on Paradise Lost

        The writer of Paradise Lost is John Milton .He was one of the most famous poets in the 17th century in British history. During this period, the United Kingdom had made significant progress in capitalist development. However, the feudal autocratic monarchy had seriously hindered the development of British capitalism. The contradiction between the two classes had been very serious. And the best way to solve the problem is revolution. Milton is a revolutionary activist, he was willing to contribute his passion to his motherland. He opposed to royal tyranny and was prepared to attack it by writing poets.

        Paradise Lost was written in this time. The theme of Paradise Lost was chosen from the foundation of American literary---Bible. The theme of Paradise Lost was chosen from the “Genesis.” And it consisted of twelve books. It is based on the biblical legend of the imaginary progenitors of the human race-Adam and Eve, and involves God and his eternal adversary ,Satan .

        The epic told us that: after escaping the prison, Satan wanted to revenge God and he went to the Garden of Eden to allure Adam and Eve. They ate the forbidden fruit due to the temptation of Satan. Therefore, because of their ignorance and depravity, God expelled Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. Finally, they leave the paradise and then lost the paradise.

        Paradise Lost played an important role in promoting the development of the epic and it was the product of Puritanism, as well as rooted in Milton’s personal beliefs. Although Milton was involved in Puritan movement, his religious ideas and political arguments all promoted he development of capitalism. Milton was a progressive bourgeoisie,

        he believed that social progress, as well as the doctrine of God was the rational laws of nature. Therefore, the advanced productive forces will eventually replace the bourgeois which hindered the pace of capitalist development. That was a reflection of historical inevitability. In Paradise Lost, the Satan fought against God that was the civil war between the two classes. Milton expressed his own political position and revolutionary consciousness by Paradise Lost. He made a series of thinking about human nature. This was why he used human degradation to be the creative theme. Therefore, we could say that his epic was based on history. He was a devout Puritan, but his political views were applicable to the materialist outlook on life.

        In Paradise Lost, the Satan was the most successful image that he author shaped, especially in the first two volumes. He was an image of a rebel and he was on behalf of the imaginative soul of mankind. The reason why the character Satan could get admiration of many romantic poets and readers was mostly that this image reflected the will of freedom.

        First of all, the epic praised Satan’s spirit of resistance. We always think Satan was the devil from hell and human enemies. Because of his ambition and rebellion, he was thrown into the abyss of misery by God. However, in Paradise Lost, the poet described Satan as a brave hero that went against the usual religious beliefs.

        The intention of describing this power of Satan was to emphasis his courageous and his spirit of hating tyrants and resisting God. Although the struggle was failed, but he had never doubted that his struggle was a justice action, he had never regretted to fall into hell where he suffered in the flames and he had never been desperate and hopeless.

        Second, the epic had also criticized the autocratic rule of God. Whether in the ancient Greek myth, religious traditions or other stories, God had always been regarded as the ruler of the universe and the absolute authority. God was praised as a true and kind image. While in Paradise Lost, God was a typical image of tyranny. The poet condemned God through Satan’s words. Apparently, God had given people the free rights, but in fact, he had suppressed the true freedom.

        Obviously, the poet’s condemnation of God were out from the social reality of United Kingdom. The tyrant was the embodiment of Stuart. Milton laid his own political tendencies in the great Satan.

        In Paradise Lost, image was rich and metaphor was innovative. This was

        mainly reflected in the psychological description of Adam and Eve when they were driven out after eating the forbidden fruit. The story of Adam and Eve in Bible was just a few words and very specific. But in Paradise Lost, the story was written vivid and colorful. In Milton’s imagination and description, the worldly things seemed to have feelings and emotions. Milton had made the most powerful cry for freedom and equality. He tried to tell us that the heaven paradise had lost, but the earth paradise would begin. The poet’s unique writing style created a new poetry generation.

        In short, Paradise Lost combined the political, ideological, religious, artistic elements, and achieved the perfect unity of arts. This epic gives use a wonderful art pleasure.

There are two main characters in this book, Marguerite Gautier and Armand Duval. Marguerite is a pretty and young courtesan, or kept woman.A courtesan can't have the true love. But she falls love with a young man, Armand. She tries to get away from her questionable past and lives with Armand forever. But when Armand's father, Madame Duval knows that his son is falling love with a courtesan, he separates them. After Armand finds that his father lied him, he goes back to Paris, but Marguerite dies painfully and alone.

        I really enjoy this when i was reading it. Marguerite taught me a lot. To love someone is just let him or her be happy.Marguerite throws out the lord who can repays her all debts and lives with Armand.But when Armand's father reminds her that she is just a courtesan, she realized she can't be recognized in Armand's family, she will stain Armand's reputation. So she leaves him. Marguerite's love is unselfish. Her self-sacrifice saved Armand's reputation.

        Everyone in the world, whether he or she is rich or poor, will encounter a lot of difficulties, even hardships. Different people may have different ways to deal with them. After reading The Little Princess, I am deeply impressed by Sara’s way to deal with difficulties. The Little Princess was written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, a famous novelist and dramatist. Sara, the heroine of the novel, was born in a rich family. In order to get a better education, her father took her from India to London so that she could go to the best school. Because Sara was kind-hearted, generous and most of all—rich, she was loved by everyone. All went well until her father died in an accident.

        Everything changed pletely. She didn’t understand why the teachers and classmates treated her so badly. Even the principal who used to be fond of her, made her work 16 hours a day. Sara’s miserable life began...

        When I finished reading the book, I was shocked by what the unimaginable pain Sara had suffered after her father’s death. She used to be a happy, worriless, and rich Princess, but now she was a lonely and poor servant. She had to work very hard without any rest but only had little food. Besides she had to endure the unfriendly and even rude ways that her classmates treated her. All teachers and students in the school looked down upon her. The most important fact is that Sara had lost the love and care of her parents.

        What a mighty pain! If you were Sara, could you stand such pain? Needless to say, an 11 years old girl, even if it were an adult, he might not put up with it. But to my surprise, Sara faced it bravely. Despite of the torture of the principal and all those pressures above, she still was optimistic towards life.

        By reading this novel, I felt inspired and think much. When we meet such difficulties, what should we do? Some people always plain that the fate is unfair to them. Some people can’t sustain the hardships and choose to give up. Few of them even try to mit suicide because they lack the courage to overe it. Compared with Sara—an eleven years old girl who can treat the pressure of life with optimistic spirit, these people’s performances are sounded so lamentable. Why can’t they make it?

        However, what impress me most are her characteristics and the thought of her “being a real princess.” This “real princess” does not mean luxury palaces, beautiful clothes and the apple of the others’ eyes, but being kind, generous and having good manners. It is unnecessary for “a real princess” to be strong in body, but she must be strong in will. Sara is a real princess in my heart all the time, whether she was rich and wore beautiful clothes in the classroom or she was cold and hungry in the attic, just because she had the good characters and kind heart.

        The story went on. Fortunately, a friend of Sara’s father found her and told her that her father left a great sum of money to her. I pray and believe that every good person in the world deserve a good result. So does Sara.

        首先,義務(wù)教育階段的英語課程具有工具性和人文性的雙重性質(zhì),讓我感觸頗深。以前的教學(xué)是以老師為主體,學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)主要靠老師的講解,學(xué)生只是負(fù)責(zé)聽,很少有活動,課堂氣氛沉悶,學(xué)生缺乏興趣,教學(xué)效果也不太明顯,學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)主要靠老師的督促來完成。這樣的教學(xué)觀忽視了對學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)方法和情感、態(tài)度與價值觀的有效培養(yǎng)。因此,我們應(yīng)與時俱進,樹立全面發(fā)展的教學(xué)觀,通過英語課程的學(xué)習(xí),能讓學(xué)生感知,體驗,理解和運用英語,發(fā)展語言能力,了解不同文化的差異,汲取文化精華,客觀,理性地看待世界,逐步形成跨文化交流與溝通的意識和能力,樹立國際視野,增強家國情懷,養(yǎng)成良好品質(zhì),從而形成正確的人生觀,世界觀和價值觀。

        英語課程的本質(zhì)是育人,承載著基干時代要求的有人使命。基于育人本質(zhì)的英語課程,在培養(yǎng)具有中國情懷、國際視野的跨文化溝通能力的'人的過程中發(fā)揮著獨特的作用,在培養(yǎng)學(xué)生綜合語言運用能力的過程中,滲透著情感、態(tài)度、價值觀的教育,使學(xué)生掌握應(yīng)對全球化時代挑戰(zhàn)、進行跨文化交流與合作、滿足國家發(fā)展和個人發(fā)展所需要的語言能力、文化意識、思維品質(zhì)和學(xué)習(xí)能力。中國要從人口資源大國走向人力資源強國,成為維護世界和平、構(gòu)建人類命運其同體、促進國際合作與交流的大國,就需要培養(yǎng)一大批掌握國際通用語的國民。因此,英語課程的本質(zhì)是育人,其實不光是英語學(xué)科,每個學(xué)科都承載著育人的任務(wù),歸根結(jié)底是“培養(yǎng)什么樣的人”、“如何培養(yǎng)人”“為誰培養(yǎng)人”的問題。

        本學(xué)期我有幸成為區(qū)xxx名師工作室成員,認(rèn)真閱讀了《小學(xué)英語高效教學(xué)》一書,讀完此書,收獲頗豐。

        作為一名英語教師,我感到了自己之前教學(xué)的諸多不足,怎樣才能使自己的課堂更加高效?這本書讓我感受到教育專著中那份鮮活的理念,捕捉到最前沿的教育信息與動態(tài)。

        要進行高效教學(xué),課堂教學(xué)中必須多信息、高密度、快節(jié)奏。所謂多信息,指的是課堂教學(xué)要增加學(xué)生接觸外語語言材料和信息量。在教學(xué)過程中,讓學(xué)生多聽些生動、有趣、幽默的對話和短文,讓學(xué)生在愉悅中潛移默化地獲得信息,積累素材,豐富知識,激發(fā)興趣。

        隨著教材的加深,逐步提高聽和閱讀外語語言材料的質(zhì)和量。通過長時間的積累,學(xué)生的視野拓寬,信息量加大,聽、說、讀、寫的能力大大提高。高密度是指學(xué)生外語實踐的量大面寬。教師講解多,必然減少學(xué)生練習(xí)、實踐的機會。要改變這種局面,就要激勵學(xué)生積極學(xué)習(xí),提高外語實踐的密度。教師要充分調(diào)動學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)的積極性,使學(xué)生主動積極參與各項外語活動。高密度要求在同一水平的基礎(chǔ)上的教學(xué)內(nèi)容并列和反復(fù)地進行語言基礎(chǔ)知識和能力的訓(xùn)練,并在理解的基礎(chǔ)上從聽、說、讀、寫各種不同角度展開,以增加外語實踐的量和外語實踐的人數(shù)。

        領(lǐng)會了這本書的內(nèi)容,高效教學(xué)是“為了提高教師的工作效益、強化過程評價和目標(biāo)管理的一種現(xiàn)代教學(xué)理念”。所謂“高效”,主要是指通過教師在一段時間的教學(xué)之后,學(xué)生所獲得的具體的進步或發(fā)展。也就是說,學(xué)生有無進步或發(fā)展是教學(xué)有沒有效益的唯一指標(biāo)。我認(rèn)為高效教學(xué)中的“效”字不僅局限在課堂中的體現(xiàn),還應(yīng)體現(xiàn)在教師的'課前準(zhǔn)備工作,教師必須提高自身素質(zhì)與專業(yè)知識水平。如果教師在講課時不具備這些條件,那么即使教師教得十分辛苦,也不能稱之為真正高效的教學(xué)。只有這幾方面都做到了高效,才能算是真正的高效教學(xué)。

        一、充分的課前準(zhǔn)備工作。

        課前準(zhǔn)備工作通俗的講就是指教師的備課:教具的準(zhǔn)備,教師的教學(xué)設(shè)計,教學(xué)任務(wù)的布置,教學(xué)環(huán)境的設(shè)置,以及學(xué)生課前應(yīng)做好的相應(yīng)的準(zhǔn)備工作。比如在教授服飾的課堂上,就要利用學(xué)生的衣服來教學(xué),因此,上課前就要求同學(xué)們準(zhǔn)備好各種衣服。再如為了突出英語學(xué)習(xí)的氛圍,我們還可以在課后讓學(xué)生布置英語角,辦英語手抄報等,讓學(xué)生活躍在英語的氣息中。教學(xué)設(shè)計這一環(huán)節(jié)十分重要,它為一堂有效課做好了充分的準(zhǔn)備。

        1、首先,教師應(yīng)當(dāng)了解學(xué)生的應(yīng)有知識和能力水平,以及心理個性年齡特點,并根據(jù)學(xué)生已有的這些特點確立適當(dāng)?shù)慕虒W(xué)目標(biāo),包括知識目標(biāo),能力目標(biāo),情感態(tài)度價值觀目標(biāo),確立目標(biāo)要符合學(xué)生實際并且難易適度,不能過高或過低。

        2、對教材的把握,對課堂活動的設(shè)計,F(xiàn)在小學(xué)英語教學(xué)普遍存在課時緊班容量大的問題,這就要求我們小學(xué)英語教師更要抓住教材要點,并根據(jù)自己學(xué)生的特點從實際水平出發(fā),靈活安排使用教材,從學(xué)生的興趣、學(xué)習(xí)風(fēng)格和學(xué)習(xí)動機出發(fā),設(shè)計課堂環(huán)節(jié),既不要太過復(fù)雜繁瑣又要引起學(xué)生興趣調(diào)動其參與的積極性,使他們的語言能力有所提高。

        二、要進行高效教學(xué),教師必須提高自身素質(zhì)與專業(yè)知識水平。

        高效教學(xué)要求英語教師具有精深的專業(yè)知識,較強的語言表達能力和交際能力,具有較廣博的世界人文地理知識;同時,教師須具有較強的教育教學(xué)能力,能夠自如地駕馭教材和課堂教學(xué)過程,了解新教材特點,恰當(dāng)?shù)刂贫ń虒W(xué)計劃,合理地安排教學(xué)內(nèi)容,有效地組織課堂教學(xué)活動。

        所以,我們必須不斷地學(xué)習(xí)以更新自己的專業(yè)知識,并深入研究教材,研究學(xué)生,要多接觸名師,學(xué)習(xí)新的教育教學(xué)方法和理念,并付諸實施。在提高自己業(yè)務(wù)水平的同時,必須加強自身修養(yǎng),對待學(xué)生必須循循善誘,樹立“一切為了學(xué)生、為了一切學(xué)生”的意識,努力創(chuàng)建平等、民主、和諧、教學(xué)相長的新型師生關(guān)系,實現(xiàn)人的個性的充分自由發(fā)展。

        In Catherine’s life, she made a very foolish decision---marrying to Edgar. In fact, her love for Edgar can never be compared to that for Heathcliff. She did so, because she thought the wealth of Edgar would be useful to Heathcliff. But in reality, it did not work. She did not have a good understanding of love, which is something pure and saint. If anyone add any purpose into love, love itself lost its meaning. Catherine’s wrong decision hurt two people who love her, and even destroyed the happiness of their offspring.

        Heathcliff is a man full of retaliation. He loved Catherine very much, but what he did, on the contrary, added to the misery of Catherine. In my opinion, if he really loved Catherine, he should not walk into Catherine’s life again after his disappearance. And the Tin Man wanted a heart, he said he couldn’t love, but he didn’t want to hurt any animal. In fact, they all have the things they want: the Scarecrow is clever, the Cowardly Lion is brave and the Tin Man is kind-hearted. This book tells us a story of how a little girl Dorothy goes back to her hometown when she is in another strange city. Dorothy is a little girl who lived with her aunt and uncle in Kansas. The weather there is very bad, sometimes there was a cyclone.

        When a cyclone came, people stayed under their houses. But one day a cyclone blows Dorothy’s house, with Dorothy and her dog Toto in it, to a country called Oz. In that city there are four witches and a very famous wizard—the Wizard of Oz. And Dorothy’s house just fell on the bad Witch of the East and killed her, so the people there were very happy. Dorothy took the witch’s red shoes and wore them. She wanted to go home to Kansas but she doesn’t know how to get there. So the Witch of North told her to go to the Emerald City to find the Wizard of Oz to help her. Then Dorothy met the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion, but they need help too. The Scarecrow wanted some brains, the Tin Man wanted a heard, and the Cowardly Lion wanted to be brave.

        So they all take the yellow brick road to the Emerald City. On the way to the Emerald City they met some difficulties, but they solved them successfully. After they met the Wizard of Oz, the wizard gave them another challenge—to kill the bad Witch of the West and they accept. During the way to the Witch of the West’s house, they were caught by the witch and Dorothy was requested to work for her. One day, when the witch tried to catch Dorothy’s red shoes, Dorothy threw some water on the witch by accident and the Witch of the West disappeared. Only water can kill her. So Dorothy went back to the Emerald City with her friends but they found the Wizard of Oz is not a real wizard, he is also a man came from Kansas, and he is just a conjurer. He wanted to go back to Kansas too.

        So he made a big balloon and prepared to go. But when the balloon is going to raise, Dorothy’s dog Toto jumped away to run after a cat, so Dorothy had to get Toto back and they were left in Oz. Then Dorothy and Toto went and find the Witch of the South and the witch told them they can just use the red shoes on Dorothy’s feet, they’re a pair of magic shoes, they could take anybody go back to their home as soon as she said‘East, west—home is the best!’After Dorothy said goodbye to her friends, she went back to her new home with her dog. It’s really a wonderful risk.

        Yes, no matter where we are, home is always the best place for us to rest or study. There are our parents here; there are also our favorite things here. At home, we feel safe, we feel comfortable, and we can relax ourselves. From this story, we can see Dorothy is a brave and kind-hearted girl. She killed the two bad witches in Oz; she helped the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion to go to the Emerald City to find the Wizard and get what they want. She solved problems when they met difficulties. It’s really not easy for such a little girl. We also learn that teamwork is important for us. When we are in trouble, we can ask our friends for help, and also, when our friends need help, we should go and help them. Just remember, more people, more power. It’s always better has more people to do a thing.

        Teamwork is really necessary in our lives. And we can see the Scarecrow is absolutely cleaver, he understands things, he can think, he learn quickly, and he suggested Dorothy to cut down a tree to cross the river. The tin man has a kind heart, he laughs, he cries, he loves, he feels sorry for people. The Cowardly Lion is really brave, he did a lot of brave things, he carried the friends to go across the river, and he wanted to find some food for his friends and so on. We should learn from them too. When we are in trouble, we should calm down, watch the things around carefully, and try to think out of a way to solve it, just like the Scarecrow.
